The Unknown

What do we do when we face the unknown? That question sits at the heart of one of the most gripping accounts in all of Scripture. In Daniel chapter 2, a young man far from home, stripped of everything familiar, is handed an impossible situation: interpret a dream that no one even knows the content of, or face execution. What makes this story so remarkable is not just the miracle that follows, but the instinct Daniel demonstrates in the middle of the crisis. He does not panic. He does not reach for a crutch. He turns to God. And that choice changes everything, not just for Daniel, but for an entire pagan kingdom watching from the sidelines. The spiritual lesson here cuts deep. When life fractures us, when anxiety pulls us in a dozen directions at once, we have a standing invitation to cast every bit of that weight onto the God who is all-knowing, all-powerful, and ever-present. First Peter 5:7 reminds us that this is not passive resignation but an intentional, deliberate act of trust. The God who knows what lies in darkness, who raises up kings and brings them down, who speaks words that never return empty, that is the God who personally cares for us. That truth alone is worth sitting with.
