Small Faith, Big God

Jul 19, 2026    Pastor Dave LaFleur

This powerful message challenges us to reconsider what we believe about faith, particularly our understanding of Jesus' teaching about faith the size of a mustard seed. We often focus on the smallness of the seed and think that's all we need, but we're missing the crucial point: it's not about having great faith, it's about having even small faith in a great God. The sermon walks us through profound questions we must ask ourselves about trust, surrender, and obedience. Do we truly trust God when we don't know the outcome? Are we trying to control everything instead of allowing God to lead? The message reminds us that faith isn't pretending problems don't exist or denying reality. Rather, faith is confidence in God's character even when circumstances don't make sense. Like sitting in a chair without inspecting every screw, we're called to place the full weight of our lives on God, trusting He will hold us. The sermon beautifully illustrates that faith grows through exercise, just like a muscle strengthens through use. We grow by hearing God's word, through obedience, prayer, and reflecting on answered prayers. The challenge presented is deeply personal: what mountains are we facing, and are we waiting for bigger faith instead of trusting our bigger God with the faith we already have?
